Sita Devi was a pioneering Mithila painter from Jitwarpur who helped move Madhubani art from domestic walls onto paper and into galleries and museums. She became especially associated with the vibrant Bharni style. Beyond her own work, she taught village women and used her recognition to support local development and livelihoods.
